Let's Get Acquainted
I am a 67 year old, retired guy journeying down life's highway creating the best life I can. Like a popular country and western song once proclaimed, I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was. And so, while I am not 25 any more, I keep rolling and adding on mileage. As you can see from my picture, I am as bald as an old tire and, like an old tire, I have travelled far and seen many things. This web site is my chance to share the many things I've learned and seen as I accumulated all my miles and hence I named this site, Bald Tires.
Life is a long, strange trip and it will constantly test your optimism. I genuinely feel bad for people who have been swamped by the difficulties life tosses our way. But even COVID has a silver lining if one looks for it. Being forced away from people allowed for walks outside where I could appreciate the blooming flowers of spring and the wondrous colors of fall.
I tend to be a complicated person and, since this section is designed to give you some insight into my existence, I will share some of what keeps my life wonderful:
- My dear wife Diana, the love of my life who helps me not be swamped by life's challenges.
- My children, both the biological (Liam & Keara) and the step (Jordan & Riley)
- My 5 dogs (I am extremely allergic to cats) - Ivy (pictured here), Sammie, Nimoy, Lacey Lee Lou and Pita (Photobombing the pic).
- Sports - Phillies, Eagles, Sixers and Flyers (Yes, I am a masochist)
- Outdoors/Nature - gardening, hiking, fishing, camping and just simply appreciating it
- Restaurants - Going out to eat has always been fun, more so now that they are opened back up again
- Bartending - after retiring I became a bartender. I no longer bartend but I constantly seek to utilize that knowledge to create wonderful drinks for friends and family (and me!).
- Writing - I keep at it and constantly appreciate those who read it.
- Travel - So far I've been to 47 of 50 states as well as Italy, England and Spain.
